hello...
I recently installed FC 4 in a dual-boot with Win XP and am trying to get the wireless network card configured to access the internet...
my wireless card is rt2500 from ralink...i installed driver and seems to be ok...
my /etc/sysconfig/networking/device/ifcfg-wlan0 file looks like:
IPV6INIT=no
ONBOOT=no
USERCTL=yes
PEERDNS=yes
GATEWAY=
TYPE=Wireless
DEVICE=wlan0
HWADDR=XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX
BOOTPROTO=dhcp
NETMASK=
DHCP_HOSTNAME=
IPADDR=
DOMAIN=
ESSID=USUWL
CHANNEL=1
MODE=Auto
RATE=Auto
and iwconfig wlan0 gives:
wlan0 RT2500 Wireless ESSID:"USUWL"
Mode:Managed Frequency=2.412 GHz Bit Rate:11 Mb/s
RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
Encryption key:off
Link Quality=54/100 Signal level=-84 dBm Noise level:-197 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
Weird...i can wirelessly access www.usu.edu (i.e. successful ping-ing) and anything therein with my current setup (i'm connecting through a university access point with name USUWL), but I can't surf outside...
I'm a noob, so there's probably a noob solution to this, though my searching hasn't produced anything useful thusfar...any help would be greatly appreciated...
