I have just installed Fedora Core4 x86_64 on my amd pc. Having trouble accessing the net. I have Direcway 6000 for internet access. I tried using the network wizard to no avail. Really at a loss at what to do. I searched the forum and found a result for FC3 from 2005. I could really use a point in the right direction.

Where is the older FC3 thread?

It appears that the Directway 6000 modem you can plug your ethernet cable into it, and just use System Settings > Network to automatically get an IP. You have an ethernet card?

Jman,

The Ethernet card is on board the MSI mobo. Everything was working ok when I had WinXP installed. One more bit of info. I have a linksys router, and I have tried to access the net with and with out it. I
I will try your suggestion with out the router and let you know the results. I am a new guy to Linux and hope one day to have my other pc's use the Linux distros.
Fedora Core4 is the only OS intalled on this PC.

Thanks again for your response

I'm using FC4 and connect to the outside world using Dway. What's your setup?

/sbin/ifconfig -a

Can you:
ping <gateway_addr>
ping 192.168.0.1 (this is the Dway modem addr)

All is working well. Using FC4 now as we speak. :)
