I have Fedora Core 4 set up on one computer and windows XP on another. I'm trying to set it up so they can talk. I can ping fc4 from windows with no problem, but when i try to ping xp from fc4, the packets get lost... all of them.

I'm going through and learning about setting up samba, but this seems strange to me. Why can i ping one way and not the other?

Any ideas?

ok, now for the next issue.. i can ping both computers. Now i'm trying to laccess my samba server from XP (following the directions of http://www.reallylinux.com/docs/sambaserver.shtml) and i keep getting an error msg the network path not found. I'm using the host ip address. the funny thing is that i can ping that same address no problem. I don't know what i missed.. any ideas?

umm i can access through the network ip address... is that normal to access through an tcp/ip address and not a host address that i set up with samba?
