Register Fedora with DNS

Anyone know of a way to automatically register Fedora with DNS? Dynamic DNS is not configured and no Samba servers are in the network. I know I can manually add the record, but I wanted to see if anyone knows how to get it to register itself. Thanks in advance!

You mean for Samba? You can add hostnames to IPs manually with lmhosts or use a WINS server to resolve them. See the Samba documentation.

Or do you want DNS as well?

Samba doesn't live in my environment. All Win except my machine and aside from manually adding a record in DNS, is there a way without DDNS or using DHCP to have Fedora register its hostname? Thanks for responding!

Perhaps you want howl, a Zeroconf-type auto networking thing.
