i have the following problem: i have a laptop with a WIN XP and FC4 partition. the other day when i booted FC4 it told me that the linux filesystem is damaged. it takes me into the console as root but thats it. i transferred all my data to the windows partition. so long story short: how can i remove the linux & swap partitions from this harddrive without having to reinstall windows? is there a way to access the MBR to remove the grub loader so when i boot it'll automatically start with windows? i have partition magic on windows but im afraid that just deleting the linux partition wont do the trick. please help, thanks a lot

I'll paste in this article because it describes it all pretty well: http://pressf1.pcworld.co.nz/archive/index.php/t-61933.html

Certainly the 'fixmbr' is the way to restore XP as the sole boot option, but I was a little afraid about how to keep XP intact and recover the drive space. Just the same, I'd back up my data before I tried it. If successful, please report back on your results so that we can confirm to others that it worked properly.

it worked. had the problem tho that my laptop came with setup and recovery cd's where win xp is only as an img file, so i had to remove SP2 and install the recovery console afterwards. fixmbr was successful and i deleted/merged my partitions with PartitionMagic. thanks alot for the link :)
