valknut ... dc++ ... direct connect
 

hello all,

I am trying to install some direct connect client on fedora core 3. I already had a look at valknut, but I don't succeed in installing it, since I have to import a PGP-Key to be able to install the rpm's and I don't know how to do that. I also don't know if I have to install all of them or just a few or only one :

valknut-0.3.7.hn-2.i386.rpm
valknut-0.3.7.hn-2.src.rpm

dclib-0.3.7.hn-2.i386.rpm
dclib-0.3.7.hn-2.src.rpm
dclib-devel-0.3.7.hn-2.i386.rpm

Can somebody help me out with this ? If there is another program that does the same, feel free to tell me about it, but it has to have a grafical interface.

GPG keys: www.fedorafaq.org will give an explanation.
You only need to install:

valknut-0.3.7.hn-2.i386.rpm
dclib-0.3.7.hn-2.i386.rpm
dclib-devel-0.3.7.hn-2.i386.rpm

Don't know for sure if you need the devel, don't think so, but it won't hurt to install it.

Edit: Are those Fedora Core 2 packages??

you don't really need a GPG key.

Fedora will give you a warning about it, but let you install [if you are using RPM],
however, yum will not let you

You might as well install it manually, by rpm -Uvh <file>
[If you got it from yum, it should be in /var/cache/yum/core/packages/]

you can import your first key by
# rpm --import /usr/share/rhn/RPM-GPG-KEY-fedora

You didn't specify where you downloaded the program from, so we can't tell you exactly which Key you need

I found the rpm's on
http://www.efd.lth.se/~x04hn/valknut/
and there's a link to the key I am talking about

rpm --import http://www.efd.lth.se/~x04hn/valknut/gpg_pubkey

maybe http:// is not required, try both.

And it is GPG, not PGP

I tried al three of the rpm's with
rpm -Uvh <file>
after trying the valknut.rpm I get the message : failed dependencies
after trying the 2 other rpm's i get the message : can't create transaction lock

I imported the key, but I don't think I really had to do that. Maybe it was because I didn't had that key imported or maybe I just forgot to trie installing the rpm's as root...anyway, valknut is installed and running as I speak.
