I was just playing around with an idea about launching gnome-system-monitor instead of sending your machine into shutdown mode. From here I could kill processes providing X is responsive at all.
I wouldn't be able to reboot per say from here, but if X is responding I should be able to shutdown normally if I have too. If X isn't responding then I usually ctrl+alt+Backspace to restart it...
Anyone have any feedback on this idea, am I completely in left field with it? Would I just be dooming myself to a hard reset in the near future???
