Winbindd dead but pid file exists

When trying start the winbind service, there is no error given and indicate start successfully.
But I got this message when checking Winbind service status.
I have found something for this error message from this link.
http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/FAQ_85_5403.shtm
However, my SELinux is 2.2.23. Much newer than the one described in this article.
I have also tried disable both Firewall and SELinux. And also remove the /var/run/winbindd.pid and /var/lock/subsys/winbindd file.

But when I restart the service, same thing happen. It says winbind start successfully. But its status is actually "dead but pid file exists".

Can anyone give some hints, what could be the problem?

Many Thanks.

Hi guys,

I got this problem fixed one week before.

There seems some problems with the version of Fedora 5 I downloaded.
What I did is just updated my Fedora 5 with yum and after that winbind runs without any problems.

I never try FC6. You may try to do the update and see how it goes.
