Question Fedora Core 6 upgrade hangs.

Hello Forum,

I am using Fedora core5 and tried to upgrade to 6 but it hangs at checking dependencies for installation. I tried text mode and when i got to that pint an error message said ( no handlers found for yum.yumbase) and it hangs again. Any suggestions? Thanx.

When it 'hangs' in graphic mode, how long is it hanging? On my hardware (816Mhz Celeron with 512MB SDRAM) the dependency check takes a looong time but it eventually gets through it. I think it took more than an hour to get through it.

Though your error message from text install does suggest otherwise.

Good going.

I'm currently upgrading a laptop, AMD K6-3, 533Mhz with 256MB and I believe it's been checking dependencies for the last 3 hours.

I wish I wouldn't have to click on 'Next' after dependency check and before the actual install. Now I have to periodically check when the dependency check has finished to proceed with the install.

Oh well, the performance is so much better than FC5 that it's worth the wait.

Now it's close to 9 hours, I believe this means it's hanging.

Any way to reduce this from n to log(n)?

David
