Hello all
Just bit of background of myself, i have been a windows user for a longtime and now switching over to linux. So far i liked it very much. However i m having a bit of problems in order to have my house in order.
I have installed Fedora 6
Problem Number 1: I boot my pc and sign on to GNOME and then i click on Add/Remove to see what is installed, it prompts me to enter my root password which i do then Add/Remove screen shows up and in the next few seconds a dialog box appears and notifies me that "Could not retrieve software information as there was no network connection" and then i click on OK and then the screen goes off all together and i m back on desktop.
This has actually been happening when i try to install Nerolinux and KDplayer.
Problem number 2: I created my dialler successfully and when i click on to activate it, shows a dial box and then an error shows up as could not activate the device error code 8
My modem has been recoginized and its showing up as modem0 in the port settings. I m having Aztec 56k modem.
If anyone of you guide as to how to fix this problem, i greatly appreciate your help
