canberra-gtk-play won't play in crontab

I have an issue I have not been able to solve. Formerly, I had chimes ring every half hour and I cannot make this happen again with my upgrade to Fedora 11.

I have files called "shipsbell1.wav", "shipsbells2.wav", "shipsbells3.wav", and "shipsbells4.wav." I have a complete crontab listing that would cause the bells to chime (nautical sound) every half-hour by issuing play commands, such as "play shipsbells2.wav" and so forth.

When I upgraded to Fedora 11 this no longer works. I noted the GNOME login sound uses "canberra-gtk-play" instead of "play," so I modified my crontab to call canberra-gtk-play but that didn't help.

I would like to get my chimes to ring again every half hour but I have been unable to figure out how to schedule a sound through crontab, when canberra-gtk-play is in use.

Any ideas?

- Bill
