Hello Czarlji,

And welcome to this place. I moved your post to a new thread and picked the best title I could think of for now. First, at this forum, nobody cares if you start the 1000th thread about some wireless adapter. Next, the issue in that other thread is not resolved yet, and soon multiple people would have been cross-talking about two people's problems at the same time. Trust me, you don't want to be mixed up in that or the cause of that kind of thing. When some issue is affecting many people all at once such as some update catastrophe breaking everybody's wireless, then it's more common to jump into an existing thread and add on a "Me, too" kind of post. In fact, those kinds of threads are often merged by the staff. Okay, enough about that. Onward...

First, you should establish for the record that broadcom-wl is known to work with your wireless chipset. Don't be offended. It happens all the time. Your readers can't be sure of that unless you post something about it. The computer model is not enough because the wireless chipset is what matters in these problems, and that doesn't have to be the same in in every example of a particular computer model. This probably will establish the chipset...
Code:
lspci
Next, those three packages to which you referred from the other thread were for a particular kernel. You should establish that, too, for the same reason...
Code:
uname -r
Just in case the above is all appropriate for your kernel, chipset, and broadcom-wl, you may as well go ahead and document what broadcom-wl stuff has been installed for what kernels...
Code:
rpm -qa | grep -e kernel -e broadcom-wl -e kmod-wl | sort
And lastly for now, along with that stuff, post the kernel modules that are being loaded (some people have to force wl to load)...
Code:
lsmod | sort
That will look like a lot of stuff to copy and paste into your next post, but I think it's all relevant to the stated problem and will help your readers understand the situation and think of a useful suggestion.

Re: Help needed with wireless for F13 on HP Mini 210-1005sa

You haven't installed the broadcom-wl driver. I think you should do that now. If you have a wired NIC connected to the Internet for this computer to do its own downloads, then start by installing the RPM Fusion repos. Just paste into your terminal the following commands that I copied from RPM Fusion...
Code:
su
yum localinstall --nogpgcheck http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm
yum localinstall --nogpgcheck http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-stable.noarch.rpm
After that, then you can install the broadcom-wl driver with this...
Code:
su
yum install akmod-wl
Then reboot and check the NetworkManager panel applet for available networks and connect.

Re: Help needed with wireless for F13 on HP Mini 210-1005sa

First, make sure the wl kernel module is being loaded...
Code:
lsmod | sort
If wl is not in that list, then try manually loading it...
Code:
su
modprobe wl
service NetworkManager restart
Wait a few seconds and check NetworkManager again for available networks.

If wl is in that list, then look for something disabling the wireless device. Some common examples...
  • A a BIOS setting
  • A physical on-off switch somewhere on the computer (Don't be insulted. People forget those all the time)
  • rfkill (see here http://fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=249577)
  • Something to enable in /var/lib/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.state
If you found something, then fix it and check NetworkManager again.
