Exclamation LINUX NOOB SOS! Need Flash Player!

Hi friends,
I recently cut Microsoft Out of my life and I installed Fedora 15 KDE. I installed Adobe Flash but when I visit my favourite news sites or You tube it wont work. Can someone please walk me through on how to get this done. I like Fedora and I am currently taking a Linux class in college right now. I'm eager to learn!

Much Gratitude!

the vlc-mozilla plugin enables youtube playback.

much easier than wrapping 32-bit flash for 64 bit Firefox or using unstable 64-bit flash.

Re: LINUX NOOB SOS! Need Flash Player!

You can get the 64bit flash plugin via yum by installing the adobe repos in yum. I just did on f15 a few days ago and it's working fine in all browsers. I also uninstalled nspluginwrapper, over time I had a mishmash of 32bit and 64bit plugin stuff which I just removed, then installed the 64bit plugin with yum.

Re: LINUX NOOB SOS! Need Flash Player!

just know few things ...
1-there is a terminal in your menus learn to use it..it will be of a great help
2-how to become root? well ans is just open a terminal and type and press enter
su
after this it will ask for password(the one you have given while installing) type it and press enter
3-the fedora uses a installer called as "yum"(there is a graphical interface available too) this yum installs programs from various sites.remember no file is installed in two copies i.e. if two programs use a common file it will be installed once and used by both.the installation is diff from MS it is not just about pressing next.ONLY THE ROOT CAN INSTALL i.e. every time you install something it will ask for root password(in both command line as well as GUI)
4-the "yum" uses repositories(repos for short) which are address of site containg the program and all the other subprograms(called as dependencies) which is required by your program.by default there are only a few repositories available for you. you have to add more if you wish to install program from a diffrent repository.
5-there is a guide available in how to/guides section of this forum.it will tell you how to enable repos and how to use them.i am also posting an address where you could find some more help
6-REMEMBER there is no graphical user login for root(it is also advisable that one should NOT create one ),DO NOT FEAR THE COMMAND LINE IT IS THE BEST WAY TO DO THINGS AL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TO LEARN A FEW THINGS AS YOU USE FEDORA
