HP Mini 210-1018CL : Broadcom 4357 Wifi chip not working... help?

I just installed Fedora, migrating from Ubuntu. I can't figure out what is the actual problem with my wifi. I installed b43 with b43-fwcutter successfully but it still won't work so I looked around on google but can't find a fix that works. In Ubuntu I just installed the b43 drivers and it worked.

I have to fix the right click on my touchpad too but that's not as important right now.

Seriously, I can't not have wifi on a netbook lol.

With b43, you have to use b43-fwcutter to install some firmware.

That package has to be downloaded. Did you do that?

That 4357 designation is a bit unusual for broadcom wireless. could you copy and paste back the output of:

lspci -vnn

Just the bit for your card will do, so that we can be sure what we are dealing with.

The b43 driver page here:

reckons that your device is only supported by the b43 driver in kernel 3.1 onward.

I assume that you are using Fedora 16 and that:

shows a 3.1 kernel?

Which firmware did you install:

Does:

iwconfig

show any wireless interfaces?

uname -r gives:

2.6.40.6-0.fc15.i686.PAE

So it's a 2.6? How do I update the kernel? I figured the net install would install the newest one.

iwconfig shows no wireless...

OK I upgraded to Fedora 16 with kernel 3.1 with PreUpgrade

So now what?

I fixed it with

iwconfig wlan0 ap any

and then a reboot. Seems to be working now.
