Logitech Quickcam problem

In Fedora 8 and 9, if I boot my machine with my Quickcam plugged in the sound device would be muted and I'd only have access to the microphone. In F8 this was overcome by booting with the camera unplugged and plugging it in when logged in. In F9 this does not work, it seems the gspca driver is not getting loaded unless the camera is plugged in during boot. Any suggestions as I can't seem to think straight today?

just to let you know your not alone i have the same problem but cant be bothered to fix it. (bump ) so ill just watch this thread instead.

Ahh, I wonder if it's got to do with the lack of /etc/modules.conf in F9?

BTW, your post in the Google Earth thread reminded me to install Bitstream Vera Sans... something that slipped my mind, something else I should add to my list of 'install later' stuff....

This is weird... This morning I booted my machine with the camera plugged in and both sound and camera worked! I'll bet it won't work tomorrow

There's a file of similar usage but just called /etc/modprobe.conf
I think?

I don't have it here.... There's a directory:

/etc/modprobe.d
