Installed Wine, can't read text.

I just installed wine using Yum. Installed easily with no probs. However

when I came to start an application I couldn't read the text. It looked like it had been smudged and just looked like wavy broken lines.

Do I have to configure something or add some extra fonts? It looks quite strange.
