Unhappy KVM Switches

I have a four port KVM switch, and I am currently using all four of them, 3 XP Pro boxes and 1 Fedora Core 2 box. After I installed Fedora Core 2 I switched to another port to view a Windows XP Pro box, and when I switched back to the Fedora box the video was magnified by at least x4, and the mouse was not working properly (USB/Optical mouse). But when I switched back to the XP Pro boxes they worked fine along with the USB/Optical. For some reason Fedora Core 2 doesn't play nice with the Belkin 4 port KVM switch that I am trying to use. I spoke with another techie who was tinkering with the Knoppix CD on a specific box hooked up to another (no name brand) KVM switch and had similar problems with video and mouse. Anyone have any light to shed as to why? Its like as soon as I press the button on the KVM switch - to switch PC's, it seems as if it sends a strange signal to the linux box, and the linux box throws up....Maybe I've been drinking too much, but this is strange...

ouch, never had any problems with KVM switches with Fedora, I am currently using 2 different KVM's on is an IOGear 4-port KVM< and the other is a Startek 4port KVM switch
only problem I have run into is when switching between the xp systems and Linux when I am using my Logitech Coredless MX
but that was only with the startek KVM.

how old is that KVM?

Belkin KVM

The KVM (Belkin) switch is relatively new, purchased maybe two months ago. Installation sucked because while it was installing say CD 2, I wanted to switch back to XP Pro box #1 and surf the net, but couldn't because as soon as I'de switch back my mouse would be disabled, heh, the pointer would be flickering on the screen, and the images would appear magnified.

Actually, let me make a correction. On the KVM 4 port switch I have, two XP Pro boxes, 1 2003 Server (real server), and then Fedora....

Apex Outlook 8 port KVM here with no problems....sometimes KVM's tend to not give the computer/OS what it wants to hear.

Belkin actually upgraded the firmware in their switches to work with Linux. At that time everything was XFree86. My switch ran find on XFree. Now that I have installed FC2 with X11 it does not work. There have been solutions posted, but they all had the user modifying the XFree config file. Those of you that are running the Belkins without issue (or any electronic KVM) are you running X11? I have tried all of the modifications that I have found on the web and in the forums, with no luck. I am conviced the issue is with X11, as this same KVM worked with another distro running XFree.

Just ran across this link. Some of the material is also documented in these forums, but there is some other good info also.
