ok, fedora still working on the first command

rpmbuild --rebuild --target=i586 kernel-2.6.30-6.fc12.src.rpm

i think this might be a long one, just so I know, what are the next steps? changing the grub.conf/menu.lst? or is the more to get the kernel running, as well as a different boot option

rpmbuild --rebuild --target=noarch kernel-2.6.30-6.fc12.src.rpm

then install the newly created rpms

You shouldn't have to edit anything.

yum install, not sum install

yum --nogpgcheck  install  /dir/here/rpmbuild/noarch/kernel-firmware*rpm  /dir/here/rpmbuild/i586/kernel-headers*rpm  /dir/here/rpmbuild/i586/kernel-devel*rpm /dir/here/rpmbuild/i586/kernel-2.6.30-6.fc11.i586.rpm

nice that worked perfectly. is there anything else?
will it appear in teh boot loader?
