Fedora 11 Hostname Problem

Hi.

I have a problem.ADSL modems not see my hostname.My hostname is "unknown"

The /etc/hosts file was wrong for my Fedora 11 as well. I added my full hostname and partial hostname. Now apcupsd service runs properly.

My copy of /etc/hosts:

Try this.

Goto "System > Administration > Network". In the "Devices" tab, select the eth device you use and click Edit button. Enter the DHCP hostname you like to see.

Hostname is OK...But still port not opened.I'm trying other spesific ports , but not opened.Please helping me.Thank you.

You have to be more specific than that. What port are you trying to open? Are you behind a firewall? I would normally look at the firewall setting first for such issue.

Im trying torrent and gnutella ports.I dont use firewall.

For peer-to-peer connection you have to configure firewall/router/NAT. You can cross out the firewall already as you don't use it (I would not recommended turning off firewall though). Next check the NAT (Network Address Translation) setting on your router. Look for port-forwarding. I believe that is your problem. Basically you want to configure your router to forward the external torrent traffic to the correct internal host which is listening to a preconfigured torrent port.

Different router brands have different ways to configure, so I cannot help you there to give you specific instruction. It does not hard to find a good tutorial on the internet for this topic. Good luck.
