No Linux port expected at this time. Follow up (SP only). User Milena posted results on WineHQ for version RETAIL 1.0 on Fedora 11 x86_64. Wonder whether she/he is the same fedoraforum.org user. Milena, if you read this post (and you are indeed the same person), perhaps you would care to clarify about any MP issues?

Yes that's me The new Wolfenstein runs great in wine-1.1.26 and .28 without any glitches (at least on nvidia cards).
I played the whole SP part from the beginning to the end and will test MP tonight or tomorrow.
And like said above a native Linux Installer will probably not happen for this game

The game failed miserably to install with the current version of wine, so I had to resort to re-installing XP just to check it out. As it turned out, I might have spared myself the trouble, as it turned out to be COD with lots of bugs, especially the MP which does not even come close to RtCW (the best co-op FPS ever, IMO) or ET

for FPS play a lot of ID software games are good, and Sauerbraten is a nice open source game. If i had to pick a favorite FPS on Linux i'd probably say Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, but there are plenty of options.
As more of a strategy gamer, my all-time favorite Linux game is the Balanced Annihilation mod for Spring. it's open source and looks great, but what separates it from the rest is the gameplay. it's made me feel bored with most of my other strategy games, including the expensive ones.
And if you like DotA, you really have to try Heroes of Newerth when it hits open beta (or snag an invite from someone to play it now in closed beta, they're not that hard to get). it's DotA remade with Icefrog's blessing by S2, the same company that made Savage and Savage 2, which was recommended elsewhere in this thread. i have to say, although i absolutely suck at the game, i love it and think they have done just about everything right. plus S2 always releases their games for Windows, Linux and Mac at the same time, which is a trend that i wish would catch on.
and go ahead and install wine and try to run some of the games you already have, a lot of them will work just fine!

No contest.
Get yourself a copy of Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
It hands down beats the new wolfenstein (which thankfully wont be polluting our favourite platform), the free Enemy Territory (which is good, granted, but just doesn't at all live up to RTCW) and any other linux fps games (free or nonfree).
Ill see you online.
