Colors washed out on ATI ES1000

I have just installed a clean F11 x86_64 on a newly purchased Dell T105. This appears to have integrated ATI ES1000 video. This is working, but the colors are very washed out. I googled for a solution to this and it was suggested that I add nomodeset to the boot line. I tried this, it does fix the colors, but I can only set the resolution to 1280x1024. I want to set it to 1600x1200 to match my Dell monitor. Any suggestions?
