What Are Some Linux Compatible Wireless N PCI Cards?

Well, I guess this seems to be a fairly common question nowadays but I can't seem to find an answer for it. I just built a new desktop and, of course, want to have a number of different linux distros on it, but I also want a wireless card that will support the Wireless N standard for when I upgrade my router in a year or so.

The only thing that I've been able to find is that something with an Atheros chipset is the way to go. Does anyone have any recommendations on what to get that isn't going to cost me a boat-load?

Erm, let me appologize for asking this so prematurely.

After finding a link to the Free Software Foundation's website I was able to find a list of some compatible cards. Well, in case anyone else wants to save some time in finding them, here's the link:

http://www.fsf.org/resources/hw/net/wireless/cards.html

Well, I hope that this is useful.

Just to add my personal experience - I have two draft-N cards running at full speed:
  • Intel Wifi Link 5300, with the iwlagn driver that's part of the kernel now, worked out of the box.
  • Dell 1500 (BMC4328), running with the STA driver. See http://www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php for supported chipsets. Careful: the BMC4328 seems to be the one exception that works even though it's not listed as supported. Install with yum install akmod-wl from rpmfusion-nonfree-rawhide.
