Odd Memory Allocation issues in Fedora 13.

My root drive has 40 odd gig left on it. Whilst my home folder has 25 gig left on it. I want to add at least another 30 gig from the root. How can this be done?

Thanks.

Re: Odd Memory Allocation issues in Fedora 13.

If you say "root drive", do you mean the / partition? If yes, the partition can only be changed if unmounted. Therefore, you could start from a liveCD, e.g. SystemRescue, and use that to resize. However, resizing partitions is risky and you should have a backup of important data.

I depends on the layout of partitions, whether you are using LVM or not and what filesystem is used.

It's LVM under Fedora 13.

You should do something similar to the one from the article:http://allaboutfedora.blogspot.com/2...artitions.html

Please, note that in the article / filesystem was extended while in your case / filesystem will be shrinked.

Re: Odd Memory Allocation issues in Fedora 13.

Look I'm not that savvy is there GUI program to do this? Plus as you say I want to go the opposite way.

This is getting me down. I want to shrink my root partition by 30G and add that on to the /home directory. I have looked through Google and find tons of info of which I know little. As a former Ubuntu user, I'm as thick as **** when it comes to command line. Can anyone help me out here, I don't want to re-install just to resize a partition.

The reason I changed to Fedora is it's really stable and more compatible to my Laptop than Ubuntu 10.04. Plus it runs faster, drains less battery power.

Please please help.

I re-installed and setup the partitions myself.
