Hi,
I have an annoying problem. I have got a fedora server running Fedora in the house that runs on a x86_64 architecture. It did have 1GB of memory from Crucial. However, to add a little bit more grunt to the box. I bought two 184 DDR DIMM 1GB memory (from crucial). However the server refuses to boot.
It goes through BIOS with no problem, gets to the grub screen (its dual boot and also has XP Pro installed on a partition). It gets past the grub screen begins initilaising and then hangs. The behaviour is not consistent. Sometimes it boots to the logon screen and then freezes when you try to log in.
Othertimes it kicks out an error. The memory is fine it passes mem test.
Also if I boot the machine with just the single 1gb of RAM it works fine (either stick works).
I have even updated my BIOS.
Is it a case of creating a new kernel as it cannot handle the larger memory size.
Any suggestions, help or advice?
Problem is driving me mad.
