RESOLVED: SELINUX and sending email using PEAR

I've been trying to get PHP to send an email using PEAR's mime mail and have been unable to get it working.

Where should I start looking to resolve this problem?

Re: SELINUX and sending email using PEAR

Is there a way to have Apache send emails without disabling SELINUX?

In general setting the "httpd_can_sendmail" boolean to on should allow httpd to send mail. If this does not work for you then could you enclose any "AVC denials" that you are seeing?

Re: SELINUX and sending email using PEAR

I ran "setsebool -P httpd_can_sendmail on" but it still was not working.

I then started working backwards to resolve the problem. When I configured the server, I followed that NSA documentation on securing redhat. The setting that I changed was not having sendmail start on boot:

chkconfig sendmail off

As a test, I started sendmail and it worked- emails sent! So I allowed sendmail to start on boot again:

chkconfig sendmail on

Problem resolved.
