Re: F15 crashed after May 6 update, please HELP!

After today's update all seems ok now. Obviously it was a kernel related issue i guess, because the only conspicuous update was kernel 2.6.38.5-24. On the other hand, all 2.6.38.4-20 related stuff has been erased, some older kernels and -modules remained untouched, strangly.
Who cares, it works..

Re: F15 crashed after May 6 update, please HELP!

Hi,

I solved my problem by following YeOK, i.e. removing the 2 kmod-nvidia packages belonging to kernels 2.6.38.4-20 and 2.6.38.5-22. After updating to kernel 2.6.38.5-24 today and kernel 2.6.38.3-18 automatically erased, my heart was stopping for awhile because after rebooting the screen showed only a white line preceding Fedora15 at the bottom for several minutes. Then the login screen appears!

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

;-)))

Re: F15 crashed after May 6 update, please HELP!

I face the same problem today...

Although it seems to work for all of you guys, I am not an expert and I can't figure out how to remove kmod-nvidia ...
Should I start with a live CD, and then follow the instructions?

My system is pretty messed up now, I'd love to use my linux machine

Thanks in advance

Re: F15 crashed after May 6 update, please HELP!

I ended up booting with 3 on the boot line - got to a prompt and did it from there.

Edit (e) the line in grub - shows you some more stuff - go to the second line - the one with the boot information - put 3 at the end - enter and boot (b)

You should get to a prompt - you can then su and deal with it with yum - might just need a yum update now.

Then you should be able to boot ok.

Worked for me at least.

Tried with single first butI wasn't sure though how to get access to the net to do the update.
