Re: Fedora 15 on Acer 5742G/Acer Nplify 802.11b/g/n

Hello Claus

Looking up "14e4:4358" leads to the conclusion that that chipset is one of the Broadcom 4322 range of devices and shoule be supported by the broadcom-wl driver.

If you haven't done so already, install the semi-official Fedora rpmfusion repositories. Search Google for "rpmfusion", their site tells you how.

Run the command:

Code:
uname -r
If the return about your kernel returns the letters "PAE" it's safest to run:

Code:
yum install kmod-wl-PAE
otherwise:

Code:
yum install kmod-wl
reboot and with luck wireless will work.

However, if your kernel is 2.6.40 you will probably need to apply the fix in post #10 of this thread:

http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=267852

The bcma module included in the latest kernel appears to conflict with the broadcom-wl module.

Post back with questions or problems.

Bernard

Hey Bernard!

I already installed the kmod-wl-PAE, and there must be the issue you linked to!

Since the UMTS Modem works, my friend was happy enough to take back his laptop and I will attend the wifi next time I get hands on it

With a little luck the problem will disappear with updates...

Thanks for your help,

Claus
