Cool Misterious Ext3 problem

Hi, everybody!

I have some misterious problem with my PC.
PC:
HP Compaq 100eu all-in-one
Fedora14

I have / directory mapped to /dev/sda2 partition.
I work with pc every day. Every night pc is shuted down. System halted correctly.

Every morning i try to start Fedora. First time i try to start system tell me that there are a problems in my ext3 journal and start to check the partition /dev/sda2. Check process finds a lot of errors and system can'not mount the partition and start the system. That\s why system can't write logs to /var/log.

After 3th shutdown-start cycle system starts, and works correctly the whole day, even i shut it down or restart.

If the pc is being shuted down for a long time (about 3 hours) the errors araised again.

How ca i diagnose this problem. Is it a hardware or filesystem problem?

Run a smart tests on the failing drive.

Code:
smartctl -H /dev/sda
Code:
smartctl --test=long /dev/sda

Sounds like a thermal problem. Some hardware is failing when cold. Could be the hard disk, hard disk controller, memory. You can pull up the disk utility and check the smart data on the drive. It could even be the power supply not supplying stable power to the hard disk drive when cold.
