Fedora boot hangs with loading middleware framework for smart card reader

I have a dual boot systems between fedora and xp. I upgrade using the net install cd to fedora 16.
I noticed that the options were changed for which drive to boot from. In the past the install program let boot from windows ntfs drive.
Fedora 16 on the update boot config option, only allowed sdb2.
When I rebooted after the install finished, loading the drivers hangs at LSB: Middleware framework for smart card readers.
I have tried rescue mode and tried to run yum to install the driver. I had no luck.
I am not sure what to try next. Thanks for your help.
