no Gnome 3 functionality

I apologize for posting the same problem twice, but I thought it was an upgrade issue, so I started a thread here http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=273568

now I want to use the nouveau driver after Nvidia wouldn't work. below is my info. any ideas on why I cannot get Gnome 3 functionality (i.e., Activities menu, etc.) The activity monitor system info says I am using gnome 3 but I have no functionality.

Code:
[apunc1@amanda ~]$ rpm -qa *\nvidia\* *\kernel\*|sort;uname -r;lsmod |grep -e nvidia -e nouveau;cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf
