Thunderbird: Security certificate error

I installed Fedora 16 the other day and then installed Thunderbird, but when I open it and try to set up my account, I get a security certificate error:

imap.googlemail.com:993 uses an invalid security certificate.

This certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided.

This of course means I can't set up my email account.

The certificate issuer (common name) is FortiGate CA and the organization name is Fortinet. Is this google or not? I'm a bit reluctant to allow an exception for fear of divulging my password.

The strange thing is that I had been using Thunderbird on Mint 11 (I have a dual boot system) with no problem up until today when this issue appeared on Fedora 16. Now both won't allow T'bird to run. Has anyone else had any problem?

Any help or advice would be most appreciated.

Thanks
