Passphrase delay

I may not be using the correct terminology here, but here goes. I have an HP Pavilion dv2000 laptop with Intel 945GM graphics & F16 (KDE) installed with LVM and encryption enabled. Boot up is slow due to a delay of 30-60 secs, before I can actually type in my decryption passphrase into the Plymouth GUI. Here's the o/p of systemd-analyze blame - that I believe gives an idea of what's going on during boot-up. Is there anything I can do to speed the boot up? (just found my post of Apr 2009 re same issue http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=219541)

Re: Passphrase delay

For the sendmail.service, this post should help you to solve the problem. http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showth...02#post1511002. Perhaps, it would solve the sm-client.service problem as well.

Re: Passphrase delay

Diasbled Sendmail service - but no change. There was no Sendmail log entry by the way. I'm wondering whether the issue is more to do with a delay in recognising my laptop keyboard during boot? I can't even ESC out og GUI until I can enter test into passphrase GUI, suggesting it is to do with hardware. No issues with other distros. Surely this cannot be the problem, can it?

Re: Passphrase delay

Err, after turning off the service(s), what does the "systemd-analyse blame" now report?

Re: Passphrase delay

Yes, agree. After re-reading your first post, I think I understand your problem better now. There is other reason causing the delay. Sorry for not able to help you much though.

But have you tried to boot in text mode? Can you type in the passphrase immediately after the prompt is visible in text mode? Are you able to use the keyboard while you are still in Grub menu?
