Hi, I did not know if it is a good section for my problem, because it is related to laptop, NetworkManager and high CPU and RAM usage. I am using Fedora 16 with Xfce and latest, stable 3.2.3-2 kernel on Acer Extensa 5220 laptop with DHCP and TP-LINK router for wifi connection. A couple days ago I noticed strange behaviour. It is completely random behaviour. At some point, the system began to freeze, the mouse cursor moved very slowly and CPU usage reached from 70 to 80 percent. Some services like wpa_supplicant, NM also have used a lot of computer resources. NetworkManager lost connection and there was not possibilities to re-connection for example restarting network service etc. In
/var/log/wpa_supplicant file I found information about - if I remember correctly - impossible scan AP and maybe CTRL-EVENT-DISCONNECTED bssid=xxx reason=1 (but I think this has no connection with this problem).
/var/log/messages file does not contain useful information.
During the system freezing, I checked a few commands (w, who, top etc) to search the different possibilities of this problem and there wasn't nothing strange. On a second computer (classic cable connection) everything related to network was ok. Everything went back to normal, when router was disabled from the power supply and Fedora was restarted again.
I'm wondering where to find the cause of this problem? This is a typical, desktop installation, without any services (ssh, cups, httpd etc.). It could be a Fedora, laptop or router problem? This issue first appeared a few days ago -- NM begins to lose the connection, the system begins to slow. When NM asks for a network WPA key, everything is back to normal when I choose cancel option.
