Thumbs down How to VM a small Windows OS on Fed16?

Hi everyone! I need to run an application under a Windows OS (xp, vista, whatever) on Fed16. I've tried Wine (and Crossover) and they will NOT do the trick unfortunately. I haven't really seen a good guide on how to do this or anticipated issues...could someone give me a push? Here's what I know/assume:

I'll need to do this with the free VMware Player (Workstation not required) (?)
I'll encounter Windows licensing problems (?)

Other than this limited basis I'm not sure what I'm getting into but I've got to do it so any help is appreciated!
