Hi everyone,
The long and short of it is, my lappie is dead

I was burning a CD in brasero a few weeks ago and when it was finalising the disk the screen went all pixelated and I had to force it off. I booted up again and itt would just hang about a second after power on. It wouldn't do anything, just sat there idly while I tore out my hair
A few days ago I discovered that if I left it on for a certain amount of time it would simply continue the boot process as usual. So I did that and it worked fine, though I believe the time it was hanging was increasing per boot. THEN, I looked into the BIOS and changed the boot order of the HDD from 2nd to 1st place.
When I slelected "Save and reboot" the power went off instantly then it powered up again and now it appears to just be hanging forever

Last time I checked it was on for about 3 hrs and still no change. It also appears to be gobbling up battery power at an unusual rate, though I can't verify that for sure. The only reason I can think of for this behaviour is that the BIOS got corrupted somehow.... Does any know what could be wrong with it??
TIA
(P.S Since I won't be able to get to the library everyday I probably won't be able to reply very quickly
