Re: A keyboard, a cat, and a system suspend problem ...

My problem was the reverse. My cat stepped on the sleep key and but my NFS server into hibernate. I had to fashion a little LEGO (R) cover for it so when they raced across the keyboard in the middle of the night they couldn't turn it off. Does anybody know where in KDE or otherwise to disable that key? I looked, but couldn't find any modern notes on it.

I ended up taping a bottle cap over the on/off switch on my UPS for the same reason. <....>

... and you really wouldn't normally have thought that would be a problem given that the UPS is stowed on a small shelf ... in the knee-hole of my desk. <....>

Dan, You are pretty much inhuman! How do you keep your desk and work area so.. well.. spotless? Mine always looks like a tornado just came through.

My boss at work used to always tell me "A cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind" until I asked him what an empty desk is a sign of!

Survival. I once lost a paycheck in the mess on my desk. I was forced to endure my own cooking for a week before I scheduled a full day, mucked out the mess, and found it. <....>

Never again!

Funnily enough, I did something similar myself a couple of weeks ago. Pictures here. (First two pictures in the album).

Nothing to do with cats, though.

Sheesh, man! Time for some (Velcro®) cable ties and label tape! <....>

It stays a lot cooler that way, though.

There are a quite a few. Most of the "input" cables are secured with cable ties to the trolley. The "output" cables are, where necessary, partly bundled with cable ties and secured to the back of the computer desk so that the hanging portions are roughly the same length - the benefit being that the cables don't snag. As for labels, I know what everything is already!

Easy to clean, too.

I usually do, too. For a few days anyway. But after I've slept a few times ...
