Don't worry, neither can I. Whole interface feels counterintuitive and cluttered to me, but for some reason it seems to work for a lot of folks

Except for ubuntu and linux mint I always use dd. Debian, SL , Fedora, cent OS, Arch all are very comfortable with dd. I 'm not sure why ubuntu and mint doesn't create hybrid isos.
Unetbootin likes to have a clean fat32 flash drive. One easy way to achieve this is to plug in your flash drive, Use gparted or whatever, to reformat the flash drive to virgin fat32 and then run unetbootin.

Works everytime.

Hi hadrons123. Would you mind to list step by step how, after you download an iso image, you do the usb preparation? Against what do you use the dd command? Assume we are not familiar with Linux that much. If we were familiar, we would not need to ask the question about how!

Thanks in advance
