can't update

I can't update, there are more than 500 packages, and the reason seems to be this:

Total size: 1.4 G
Is this ok [y/N]: y
Downloading Packages:
Running Transaction Check
ERROR with transaction check vs depsolve:
mesa-dri-filesystem(x86-32) is needed by mesa-dri-drivers-8.0.3-1.fc17.i686
Please report this error in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/enter_bu...&component=yum
** Found 203 pre-existing rpmdb problem(s), 'yum check' output follows:

Is it really because of mesa-dri-filesystem(x86-32) that I can't update??

I always use yum --skip-broken

Maybe the problem is, I did an update system install from Fed 16. Should I have done a fresh install??

Re: can't update

Yes, you will need a fresh install of f17.
The update should have been at least a preupgrade setup.
By using skip-broken you have dangling and missing deps that show up during yum resovle.

You could try the DVD and do an upgrade, may work better than anything else now.
Otherwaise fresh install and inable updates and updates-tesing repo on the anaconda menus as it prceeds.

Re: can't update

That's all it takes sometimes is one package to break an update. I always install yumex and run that and then when the updates are listed you can select any or all packages to update or skip the ones that have dependency problems. Most time the offending package will update in a day or two. You could run " yum update --exclude mesa-dri-drivers" if that is the only package choking the update process.

Re: can't update

Thanks!

I thought --skip-broken would exclude any unresolved dependencies

What is yumex??

I did sudo yum --skip-broken --exclude mesa-dri-drivers, and it is now updating!! So thanks again!

What is mesa-dri ??? Do I need it??

Yumex is a gui for yum. So open a terminal as "su" and "yum install yumex" and when it is installed it should be listed under System Tools or open a terminal and enter "yumex".

Re: can't update

It can only see into the repos of the FN.
Some were not recompiled into the the FC17

Before I reinstall F17 from rc4
I hade fc13, fc15, fc16, fc17, and fc18 paclages.

If all those were in the FN repo one could simply do
#yem --upgrade --distribution-synchronization --obsoletes --enablerepo=updates-testing

and wa-la, an F17 that run very smooth.
