F17 - Bizarre network problem

Hi,

I started having this bizarre wireless network problem where:

- When I assign a static IPv4 address on my wlan0, I can connect to my wireless LAN at home but I cannot ping the router, even though they are both on the same /24 subnet.

- When I use DHCP, dhclient on my machine would sent out DHCPDISCOVER, and my router responds with DHCPOFFER (I checked the logs on the router), yet my machine would not acquire an IP address.

I have iptables / ip6tables turned off, selinux is off. I restarted the network service several times, rebooted it a couple of times to no avail.

Any help on this bizarre problem is appreciated. Worst comes worst, I should be able to reinstall F17 from DVD and fix it, but I'd be curious to resolve the problem if possible.

Re: F17 - Bizarre network problem

I got it resolved.
No wonder this phenomenon didn't make sense from software perspective -- my wireless NIC went bad.
