Wait, step back! I have to rewrite the whole question.
Here's the new updated version of my question:
I don't have a USB Flash drive, but I do still have a 600GB external USB Hard Drive, which I want to use for the same purpose: Having Fedora 17 KDE in a small and portable device that I can plug into other computers simply to use the browser and text programs I am used to and also to make installations of Fedora 17 KDE on other computers.
Do I need a LiveUSB installation for that or a regular one? On a LiveUSB I always have "Install to hard drive" as a desktop icon and I can plug it into any computer. Is that a special LiveUSB feature that a regular installation would not be capable of (since it would have to scan the hardware and change configurations accordingly).
I assume I need LiveUSB, which faces me with the following problem:
Most LiveUSB creators do not recognize the USB Hard Drive as an eligible target for a LiveUSB installation. I found Universal LiveUSB Creator which has the options to list
all drives, but that program does not provide me the option to make a persistent installation that can hold additional aplications I want to put on the LiveUSB drive.
Is there a trick to make other LiveUSB creators recognize the USB Hard Drive, or creators that provide both options?
