Agree -- Gnome 3 is only usable if you replace gnome-hell with cinnamon.

Does anyone know how to make the following things work on Cinnamon:

1) screenshots -- gnome-screenshot makes a spectacular crash
2) move windows with alt+mouse click & move?
3) placing windows on top in the centre, not behind currently open window or in random parts of the screen...
4) I really miss cube from compiz and cube rotate extension (though I doubt it would ever happen)

I still prefer to use GNOME Shell, but I'm quite enjoying Cinnamon in Fedora 16.

Anyone know if it's possible to decrease the width of the Cinnamon panel so that it doesn't go all the way across the screen?

Hi there,

Last week I upgraded to Fedora 17 and every time when I open a LibreOffice document Cinnamon freezes. Also I found this thread with the same http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopi...3054&start=280 behaviour.

Is there already a (re)build of the master available to see if the freezing still occurs?
Or does anybody have seen this behaviour and found a solution.

At the moment I run:
uname -r
3.4.3-1.fc17.x86_64

cinnamon-1.4.0-5.UP1.fc17.x86_64
mutter-3.4.1-3.fc17.x86_64

I'm running the same versions of cinnamon and mutter as you, but I don't have the freezing problem with Libre Office. I am running a different kernel:

$ uname -sr
Linux 3.4.4-3.fc17.x86_64

You can get it from koji. After reading the link in your post, I'm not sure that will help, though. What graphics are you running? I'm running Intel. The reason I ask is that one comments mentions that running in recovery mode fixes the problem. I believe that turns off 3D graphics, which makes me think that the freezing is related to specific video hardware/drivers.

just upped to the new cinnamon 1.4.1-0.3 thanks for the new release

...but i've noticed the font sizes have been tampered with and the window titlebars are all jumbo size...

also, i know that cinnamon, like gnomes-hell allows you to adjust three font sizes: Default, Document, Monospace... but what about adjusting the other fonts...

...like the fonts in window titlebars or labelling the desktops icons.

i've also been manually changing the symbolic icons in the system tray to FULLCOLOR...as they seem better suited to match other system tray icons from third party programs.

Another issue, the "Action on title bar xxx-click appears to be broken. I changed right click to minimize, and now I can't change it back to menu. It appears that only the first change is handled correctly. Perhaps something isn't quite right with the gsettings schema?

Using gnome-tweak-tool rather than cinnamon settings to control left, middle, right click on the title bar fixes the problem I mentioned in my previous comment.

cinnamon-settings works here ok.
Perhaps the move from gconf to gsettings has messed up the user configs in ~/

Are the developers still doing anything with Cinnamon? When I checked Github, there doesn't look like there is alot of activity going on with the project
