FC16 and VMware tools - a bit different

Cant install VMware tools. I know its a known issue and I found some solutions, but all fail.

Version of my running kernel and kernel-header files are different.
tried all in this toppic http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=263717

yum update kernel fails, in fact it does the job not but when loading in grub new kernel
3.4.1.9 i think fails and old 3.1.something works...

I am running fedora 16 in VMware in WinXP

no idea where to find boot logs or how to make new kernel boot after update

Well guys I did some more research, and found that new kernal update fixes some issues I had so I ran yum update wich brought my krenel to 3.4.1.7, which booted perfectly and then I installed new kernel headers and checked for gcc and make which are installed so vmware-config-tools.pl runned perfectly
I even found a script to check if kernel-headrs are same ver as running kernel, because this is the most common cause of vmware-tools not installing properly.

All works well - fedora fc16 under vmware in winxp
