Attract new users to Fedora. Give users another choice and freedom to choose what type of DE/WM they would like to use. This is one of the core foundations of the Fedora project.

I think Debjit (blog poster) is a little ahead of themselves... Do not see Gnome 3 going away. And though I like MATE (Maya), MATE needs some work (same as Gnome 3)

That's my question Yellowman, to my limited understanding, MATE is continuation of Gnome 2 (with dependencies on old libraries) and Cinnamon is Gnome 3 (with different UI)? So it would make sense that Cinnamon would gain polish (and stability) and larger user base than MATE that needs major overhaul on old libraries. Do you think the two projects will merge?
