F17 won't install -- not enough space error, drive is 200 GB though

Hello:

I'm trying to install 64 bit F17 on my laptop. I will eventually dual boot. I have Win 7 installed on a partition and have 220 GB of unallocated space outside of the NTFS partition.

During install, when I get to the part where it gives me options for the disk, I selected the use free space option and the custom config option. Neither one worked. In all instances, I get an error stating there is not enough space on the drive.

There's 220 GB available. How can I possible not have enough space?

Thanks for any suggestions you can provide!

With standard MBR partitioning scheme you can only have four partitions. That's either four primary partitions or three primary partitions and one extended partition. The extended partition can include are large amount of logical partitions.

If you've already used up your four partitions then you're out of "space" ;-)

Code:
fdisk -l

Thanks for the reply... that's not it though I believe. I dusted off an old F14 DVD I made from iso and had no problems installing.

check the md5sum on your iso file for the installer, it's possible you've created a faulty medium for installation.

other than that, make sure that the space you are attempting to use as 'free' is free. as in unformatted
