Completely removing nVidia drivers

hi all,

How is the best, cleanest way to completely remove all my nVidia drivers? I want to reinstall them with the latest ones via apt-get.

Many thanks,

stokefan

Do you have it installed with the driver package from the nvidia site ?
Then you can uninstall it (as root) via:
Code:
sh ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-7667-pkg2.run --uninstall
Replace the version number with your package's version.
Don't forget to install the rpm afterwards / modify your xorg.conf or your X won't work anymore after a reboot.

According to nvidia's readme, "the installer will try to uninstall (previous) versions as best as it can".
I think you're on the safe side with the above procedure.
(in /tmp there is some log file from the nvidia installer containing every action it has done, but like me you just may already have deleted it )

have you any idea why this uninstall command should not work? It's probably something really easy its just that I'm so rubbish at this

thanks, that worked Finalzone I've never used yum before that, I normally use apt.

It didn't let me install new drivers like so : # apt-get install nvidia-graphics7174-kmdl-$KVER, so I just went like this : # apt-get install nvidia-graphics7174, I hope it still works the same?!
