Hello all.
I'm trying to get the battery working on my laptop, without breaking all the other modules compiled for the kernel.
I know how to rebuild a new rpm from the kernel (kernel-2.6.14-1.1637_FC4.i686) from the threads in the forum, but i have a few questions.
Has the default fedora kernel any patch to allow reading a custom DSDT from the initrd ??
i've search in the config file and i have found nothing...
in my latest experience (last night) i've installed the kernel sources, applyed a patch and then compile the kernel (the old fashion way).
Problems:
since the kernel has changed, my old livna ATI drivers for the kernel mentioned above stop working... I've tried to install them from the ATI installer, but no sucess.. always errors, always errors..
my question:
i want to patch the kernel to allow it to read the DSDT from the initrd, or to read the DSDT.hex at compile time..
after the patch, i want to rebuild the kernel to an rpm, but, if possible not changing any thing in the name so i can install the livna ATI rpm and any rpm to that kernel... is that possible?
any help would be great...
by the way, my laptop is:
acer aspire 1692 WMLi DDR2 (there are 2 versions- DDR and DDR2)
with bios 3A28
