Best Battery life - Centrino, Centrino Duo or Turion ?

I need to purchase a new laptop with the major requirement being a good battery life. Which is the one having the best battery life ? Centrino , Centrino Duo or Turion
This article on Cnet http://www.cnet.com/4520-6022_1-6410042.html?tag=promo2 states that the Centrino Duo will reduce power consumption by 28%. But what about Turion or the "to be launched" dual core version of Turion ?
Battery Specifications of Laptops mention
* Battery capacity in mAh
* Battery technology: Li-on
* Installed battery qty: 1
* Mfr estimated battery life
Some specifications also mention that the Laptop has space for another battery. Should this be a deciding factor? Also, I am not sure I fully understand the mAh thing? How much power in mAh does a Laptop consume ?

i would go with the Centrino Duo even thou they will not have have 64bit support till the second half of the year. the turion would be a good option if amd were to start making low-power chipsets to go with the processors. http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=2719

I am an AMD man, but when it comes to using laptops for mobility, Intel is usually better. Even though Centrino is mostly marketing BS, it still has a better battery life than AMD most of the time...

I was looking at the specs of 2 HP laptops that are available here - nx6120 and nx6125 . Both have similar features - Wifi,Bluetooth,fingerprint recognition, DVD writer, 15" screen 60GB hdd, 512MB RAM etc.
nx6120 is a Centrino based Laptop - Pentium M 1.73GHz processor with 2MB cache. nx6125 has a Turion 1.6GHz processor with 1MB L2 cache. Both have a battery life of 4 hours.
However the price difference is significant. nx6120 costs Rs 66,000 i.e. about $1300 and nx6125 costs about Rs 52,000 i.e. about $1000 . I don't think there is much to choose between the two laptops when it comes to performance.
I think I should go for the Turion model since its 64-bit . What do you guys think ?
Centrino Duo lapotps are not available here as of now.

I have a turion 64 HP L2000 Special edition laptop, battery on Fedora 4 lasts 4 hours with wireless on, 6 with it off. Pretty happy with the performance and speed.

Cheers!

I seccond that. The intel duo cores for laptops smoke amd's when it comes to battery life.

Not to mention having esentially two processors in a laptop give you bragging rights ;-)

Acer 5024

I deliberately bought a Turion, as I wanted to run 64-bit Linux on my laptop, and it is very fast.

However, I only get about 2 to 2 1/2 hours battery life.

Machine spec is
CPU ML-34 (1.8GHz)
1G Ram
100G disk
256M ATI Moblity Radeon X700

The battery is an 8-cell 4400 mAh.

There are a few laptops now with the MT- (lower power) processors, but these
are rare.

So, I would summarise:

Go with Intel if you can live with 32-bit, and want a long battery life.
Go with AMD, if you can live with a short battery life, but want 64-bit.

Don't go for the core Duo, Look here:http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/01/...se/page22.html

The turions and "regular" centrinos battery life is much better than dore duos.
