DMA on Inspiron 6400 DVD drive

Hi all -

I have been unable to enable DMA on the DVD drive on an Inspiron 6400 running FC6.

If anybody has managed to enable it directions would be appreciated.

I'm getting the 'operation not permitted' error from: hdparm -d1 /dev/dvd (as root).

Thanks in advance.
