can't remove kernel-headers

I installed Fedora core 6 a few days after it came out. After the install I tried to install the Nvidia video driver from their website after installing the kernel-headers as was required in the earlier version of Fedora I still had problems installing them or building the kernel module. I ended up installing them from the Livna repo and they worked properly.

while doing some updating and cleanup I tried to remove the kernel headers using yumex but yumex said it was going to remove a very long list of packages as dependancies. I tried at the terminal:
yum remove kernel-headers
and after processing the dependancy list yum asked if it was okay to remove the following 119 packages.
I never ran into this problem with Fedora core 4 or 5. most of these packages were installed before the kernel-headers so are they really dependancies? All of the packages on this system were installed from the install CD or later as RPMs.

I don't really need to remove the kernel headers as I have a lot of space on the system but I try to keep things organized.
Thanks! Terry

As you discovered, you don't want to remove kernel-headers; perhaps you're thinking of kernel-devel instead?
Code:
[jcliburn@osprey ~]$ rpm -q --info kernel-headers
Name : kernel-headers Relocations: (not relocatable)
Version : 2.6.18 Vendor: Red Hat, Inc.

Install Date: Fri 27 Oct 2006 07:58:03 AM CDT Build Host: hs20-bc1-6.build.redhat.com
Group : Development/System Source RPM: kernel-2.6.18-1.2798.fc6.src.rpm
Size : 2224807 License: GPLv2

Summary : Header files for the Linux kernel for use by glibc
Description :
Kernel-headers includes the C header files that specify the interface
between the Linux kernel and userspace libraries and programs. The
header files define structures and constants that are needed for
building most standard programs and are also needed for rebuilding the
glibc package.
