When trying to install fedora 2 the install freezes on the line "running /sbin/loader." I have looked at a bunch of other posts about this problem, and none of the suggestions worked for me. I was able to install fedora core 1 on my machine with no trouble. I have tried the nofb, nousb options, as well as noprobe (i think that's what it is, i dont know offhand) Also, i have tried putting in a floppy disk drive, as one user said that theirs froze while loading the floppy module. I also have tried disabling usb support in my bios and plugging my keyboard and mouse into ps2 using the usb to ps2 adapters. I have tried booting with the cd in both of my cdrom drives, and none of this has worked. Furthermore, i did check the md5 sum of the iso image, and it matched. Is there any way I can md5 the cd itself to be sure that it is burned correctly (though i am fairly sure this isnt the issue)?
My hardware is this:
MSI k7 master motherboard (msi 6341)
athlon mp cpu clocked at 1044 (not running in mp mode)
512 mb of ddr ram (pc 2400, but clocked lower than that)
MSI gForce2pro graphics card
SB live audigy
i forget my ethernet part number, but
it is made by d-link, and in linux it is the 8139 driver that does it
also ther e is an xterasys 802.11b wireless card
80GB and 60GB hard drives, both maxtor
Logitech wired USB mouse and keyboard
Panasonic DVD drive
HP cd burner
I havent had any hardware trouble with other linux distributions, including FC1
There really isnt anything exotic there, its all name brand except i guess the wireless NIC
what could be the problem?
